As a counsellor, we gathered like 10 girls within the age range of 12 and 15yrs for counselling. One of the questions asked was, “are you a virgin”? They all gave “No” as answer. I had to ask if they knew what it means to be a virgin. The response they gave made me know they were really sure of their answers.
Looking at the level of sexual activities among our pre-teens and teenagers in this day and age, one cannot but be seriously pained in the heart especially as a concerned parent. There was a day I heard the lyrics of a song in one business area and I shed tears begging God for revival. The song was all about infidelity, yet these are the songs that have become the sparkling delight of our dear teens. To see young girls that are chaste now is becoming more and more difficult. Rather it is becoming strange for a 17year old to say I never had a boyfriend.
Since I was a youth, virginity had been seen as old fashioned, but God still kept many of us as virgins till our wedding.
My cry is to our young ones and parents; YES! You can be the remnant that will keep moral standard where you are. Be the remaining seed that is yet to be defiled and corrupted. Be that remnant that refuses to bow and bend. Be that remnant that proves God true.
“Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.” 2 Corinthians 6:17 (NLT).
Don’t follow the multitude in the way of sexual immorality. Be separate from them. Come out from this evil and even if you’ve been trapped there already, get out of there right NOW!
The boldness with which young ladies are talking about their sexual escapades these days, may want to intimidate the righteous. I charge you to be bold with the truth that you know. You are not alone on this journey of sexual purity; God has the capacity to keep remnants for Himself.
“Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.” I Kings 19:18 NKJV.
I saw a great man’s daughter, whose father was influential and yet she maintained a very high standard of morality. She did not lower the standard, even till death. Some girls would have thought “there is no point keeping myself pure, since I know I am going to die”
Jephthah’s daughter is the one I am referring to “And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and BEWAIL MY VIRGINITY, I and my fellows.” Judges 11:37 KJV.
Philip’s daughters set the standard again for us “And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy”. Acts 21:9 KJV
Even though living inside Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot has this to say about his daughters;
“Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man before…” Genesis 19:8 ERV
Sodom is looking like what we have now, yet some girls stood as remnants in the land.
“…and they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.” Ezekiel 23:3 KJV
Don’t join their company! They may seem to be having it all fine now, it eventually ends in bruises, pains and sorrow of heart. God is your judge and standard; keep your gaze on Him. Keep the right company, those who will help to strengthen you on your journey.
Again I say to you, stop saying everyone is now corrupt… I challenge you, BE THE REMNANT!
