There seems to be a time when waiting on the Lord becomes totally incomprehensible and unfathomable by the human mind, especially when the chances of the normal occurrence of that which we wait for have totally gone out of range and the odds are fully against hope. This is that point when waiting sincerely doesn’t seem to make sense anymore.
I perceive Mary was here when she was waiting on Jesus outside his sepulcher and weeping even after all the disciples had gone back home “…but Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre”, John 20:11 KJV
It was already confirmed that Jesus’ body was no longer there. Thorough checks had been done and sincerely there was no need to hang around the tomb in tears. Even the so called big names have accepted their fate and returned to base, “but Mary stood on”
I perceive Miriam (the sister of Moses) was here as well as there seem to be no logic behind her standing afar off the view of a little baby in a basket on river Nile when her mother (the main stakeholder) had left him to varnish out of her sight. The main thrust of her actions most likely being the fact that she didn’t want to watch her baby brother die. What exactly was Miriam waiting to watch? Sincerely staying on in the wait for a probable miracle for Moses did not make any sense at all. Death was already to be expected, yet Miriam stayed on!
“And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him”. Exodus 2:4 KJV.
Were they really aware of the senseless dimension of their actions? Sincerely I think they were… but beyond that, a divine influence seems to have overridden their reasoning and powered on their stay. This, they cannot fully deny! Imagine at 40years old, no suitor, yet a Mary stood on at the empty sepulcher of her age! After several attempts at IVF and all, doctors concluded that her womb has been totally damaged, yet a Miriam stayed on and watched what would happen to her menstrual cycle every month.
THIS KIND OF STAYING AND WAITING IS NO MORE NATURAL NEITHER CAN IT BE SUSTAINED BY THE HUMAN ENERGY. It is not powered by natural reasoning neither is it empowered by natural hope. In fact the persons in the wait themselves cannot really give a comprehensible logical explanation for why they are waiting but may only admit that there seems to be a strong divine influence. An undeniable divine hand entirely supervising their staying and watching on so much that every thought or attempt to reason or throw in the towel is doused by a very strong assurance deep down the soul yet supported by no reason at all to hope or continue hoping.
The Spirit supervising the rescue of Moses was the same Spirit supervising the staying on of Miriam till the daughter of Pharaoh came to the river. The Spirit supervising the birthing of Jesus was the same Spirit supervising the sexual purity of Joseph and Mary in courtship till Angel Gabriel broke the news. The Spirit supervising the resurrection of Jesus was the same Spirit that held down Mary to catch a glimpse of her Lord seeing He was actually still around. The Spirit supervising the triumphant entry project was the same Spirit supervising the tying and holding down of that choice donkey at the junction whose back had been chosen to carry the Lord its creator.
When GOD is involved, He influences even the waiting that is necessary to happen before that which He is bringing must land in perfect timing for HIS own divine agenda which is of more significance and importance than ours. The force of this influence, every truly and properly waiting child of God cannot deny! When you notice that at the instance of every attempt to let go or break off from hope, lies that gentle but powerful influence of the very hand of God holding you down in your wait… Allow and do not resist it. Allow Him my dear brother or sister. Allow Him despite your inability to see any sense, logic, possibility or hope in the direction of His sway. He is the God of the whole earth. He has mapped out everything from the beginning to the end of creation and where you are right now is already profiled and captured in His timeline of something much bigger than you could ever imagine. Allow Him power your staying and waiting on! The daughter of Pharaoh is on her way and Jesus is actually still around. Selah!
Remember the same Spirit bringing what you are waiting for is the same spirit holding you, helping you and influencing you to wait for it. In fact this very article is part of that influence as even I myself had been pressed so strongly to write this at this time. Not too long from now, your husband would show up. Yes, your babies would arrive confirmed and your turnaround testimony would have become shareable, you would see why He helped and powered you to wait.
When you see it you would know it because He who brings it is the same One who had been there with you the entire wait.
“The vision will still happen at the appointed time. It hurries toward its goal. It won’t be a lie. If it’s delayed, wait for it. It will certainly happen. It won’t be late”. Habakkuk 2:3 GW.
