The vision of the School of Virtue (SOV) was conceived by Segun Coker and birthed in August, 2003 in an inaugural meeting that took place with about 22 people (mostly ladies) under a shed beside the Mariam hall, Ololo road, Ago-Iwoye.
SOV began initially as a burden to address the increasing level of immorality as well as the heightening decline in godly and moral values among the feminine folk. This is why the ministry was initially birthed as a ministry for reaching out to ladies with the mission statement being, “Bringing the King’s bride to Him” as found in Esther 2:3.
SOV began to fulfill its mission by writing and publishing articles with the first being “Aso n soro” (dresses talk), and then another article (Are you sure?) before going further to publish her very first magazine (known as Femina Magazine) with the article “Don’t break that Gate!” as the lead article. This became a major tipping point as the unprecedented responses from the impact of the magazine led to the first ever SOV Ladies Campmeeting which took place at the Western Bible College of the Assemblies of God, Iperu, Ogun State, Nigeria in March, 2005 with about 85 ladies in attendance.
The hand of God on the School Of Virtue as a ministry was quite strong and obvious as at this point with many unconventional testimonies and unusual results coupled with the strange fact that at the head of all these efforts was a young man who had not even gotten married at the time. Being encouraged by the high level impact and success of the 2005 SOV ladies camp, we proceeded to planning and eventually hosting another edition in 2006 using the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta. This time, the camp was totally free (Registration, feeding, Accomodation) and the number participants grew to about 400 ladies. The annual Femina magazine, the monthly Onsite meetings at Ago-Iwoye (as well as other campus environments where SOV had gotten representatives) and the annual SOV ladies Campmeeting became the major operations of the ministry as at this time up until about 2008.
SOV began operations in 2003 and presently has representatives in about four countries with about 15 chapters across the 36 states of Nigeria including Lagos, Abuja, Delta, Oyo, Plateau (Jos), Nasarawa (Keffi), etc with her base situated in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria where the visionaire (Pst.) Segun Coker also resides.
Between 2008 and 2013, the number of male volunteers had increased in the SOV workforce asides a growing interest in SOV by working professionals and married couples who also wanted to partake of the grace they had seen many ladies testify to. This led to other efforts like the charging point (A monthly Bible teaching seminar which served as a recruiting, training and meeting point for SOV volunteers both male and female), the M & m magazine (Misters and Masters magazine for the male folk), the National Guys and Men Summit, the Engaged singles and Couples retreat (ESCOR). As at this point, the definition of SOV, her mission and practically The organizational structure had to change. A new ministry logo, letterhead, website, social media handles, leadership structure and a mini working document was put in place. The name “School Of Virtue” as well as the Virtue Blazers Club (now Virtue Blazers Ministry as an umbrella incorporated trustee structure) had now been registered with the Nigerian government and a bank account put into place amidst several other proper organizational structures.
As at 2016 the now National Ladies Camp (Previously called Ladies Camp) had become three events in a year in three different locations with a total of about 4000 registered participants.
